Big AFL games were played last weekend .
At a more grass roots level the Community Cup was staged at my local footy oval , Elsternwick Park . Triple RRR Megahertz battled the Espy Rockdogs . The tug of war between the wizened rockers and fit broadcasters resulted in a draw . A large crowd , fuelled by Boags draft enjoyed every minute . It was a good turnout considering the nanny state stopped the Sandy trains , the trams weren’t running down glenhuntly rd , and strict instructions as to where to park your pushie were broadcast. Mud , pies , beer , rock and roll , plus support for the worthy cause of Reclink , showcases Melb footy at its best . Much loved , vintage , Fitzroy and St Kilda footy jumpers , were spotted in the crowd , along with tattered scarves , amid a smattering of rock and roll diamante , and ocelot print .
The current glam rockers of AFL footy , Collingwood clipped the Eagles wings , the Dogs went down to the Lions , Swannies saw the Cats off , and Essendon dumped the Dockers . Melbourne felled the Giants , the Kangas routed the Crows , whilst some teams rested .
