No longer uniquely Melbourne ?

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Melbourne Demons , the new dream team of the AFL, beat Port Adelaide Power at the weekend’s exhibition football match in Darwin .

Fans came out in their thousands dressed in their football jumpers , jerseys, guernseys . They  supported their team and were rewarded with a very entertaining game of football.

A one point victory to the previously struggling Demons thrilled and entertained a footy starved crowd in the NT.

Melbourne held off a fast finishing Port Power team .

A titanic struggle created scintillating footy as the Vics prevailed over the South Australians.

Is the stage set for the NT to provide their own AFL team to join the national competition?

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Observed today in Melbourne town on a day of 29 degree summer heat three different instances of people in football jumpers. A builder in grey st st kilda working on site with a hard hat shorts and Hawthorn footy jumper . His guernsey was the modern sleeveless style with printed sponsors logos . Further along the same road and in the same area a patron of the PCYC gym arrived in the latest strip for irish hurling team Leinster. His entrance was followed by a fellow patron of the same gym in an old sleeveless asics guernsey of the melbourne football club .Fashion statement or just good comfortable gear to wear in Melbourne ‘ s summer heat . Proof that jumpers can be worn anywhere , anytime .Football jumpers are not just for Christmas.
