are making a comeback . Collingwood Football Club have released a range of retro football guernseys , sporting the old blue and white VFL logo patch , and peak collar . Whilst they are not a departure from their traditional black and white iconic strip , the retro jumper , was touted as a possible mothers day gift . CFC keen to make a buck have appealed to fans to purchase one for Mum . Apparently these were the jumpers the Mums saw on the footy fields , before they became Mums !

Melbourne FC played the Western Bulldogs on Sunday in their traditional navy blue football guernsey , but the red yoke and trims , were replaced with bright pink and printed with lighter pink figures of women, to raise awareness of breast cancer .

Some teams had a bye at the weekend , others played , and the Swans beat the Hawks in Sydney , proving the Hawks aren't unbeatable .An extended round of matches has been played out , commencing on friday and finishing on monday night when the Saints play the Blues . Both teams are desperate for a win , being in 13th and 15th spot respectively , on the ladder and could be described as evenly matched . They have shared a great rivalry over the years , and this game promises some jumper tearing action for fans .

The home and away AFL 2014 Football Season has commenced . Flag contenders Fremantle thrashed Collingwood , in the first game of the year . In the Harbour City , Greater Western Sydney beat their fellow Sydneysiders , the  Swans . In Queensland , the Suns beat the Tigers . Last Sunday night in Melbourne , Port Adelaide defeated Carlton . Thursday night footy saw Geelong hold off Adelaide to be victorious .  Could the 2014 season be one where the interstaters steal the flag ?

Friday night footy should be riveting between the Bombers and Kangaroos ,  in the wake of Tania Hird's spurious claims on the ABC , concerning her husband's involvement in the the illegal supplements saga.

Royal Melbourne Show ? What Show  ? There's only one show when the AFL are in town . Excited fans ,  wearing their football jumpers , jerseys , guernseys , are watching , waiting , and revelling in the entertainment .

Friday nights second semi final , at the MCG , between the Swans and Hawks , treated fans to some great footy action .The ' Buddy magic ' show had come to town and the 55,000 fans , in attendance , many wearing their football jumpers, jerseys , guernseys ,enjoyed the spectacle . The Swans were defeated by the rampaging Hawks , much to the delight of the parochial crowd .

In WA,  Ross Lyon , STKFC 's defecting coach, faced the WA media . His departure  has launched a facebook and twitter furore from  saints fans ,  including Molly Meldrum , who says he brought boring footy to the club .
